The truth pixie is a beautifully illustrated story about a pixie who is not like all the others but learns to love herself and find a friend.

Wherever she is, whatever the day,

She only has one kind of thing to say,

Just as cats go miaow and cows go moo,

The Truth Pixie can only say things that are true.

The beginning of this story sees the Truth Pixie lose friends and fear going out due to her curse of only being able to tell the truth. At this point it could be taken the wrong way for some children as they see her sad and alone with many people not liking her so I think it is important to judge this in relation to your own child(ren) first.

The second half of the book is where I think this book really deserves the recognition it is getting.

This page really touched me and, although the book is definitely aimed at younger children who would love the story, I think everyone could benefit from the messages within it. Personally, I could see some pupils within my class really engaging with the messages and feeling less alone knowing the Truth Pixie (or Matt Haig) is there, understanding how they feel.

I’d definitely recommend this book to all ages and I am incredibly thankful to Mr Ripley @Enchantedbooks (on twitter) for sending me a copy as a prize for voting in #bookcoverwars.

Happy reading!
